Important Classroom Information

Absences/Sickness

If your child is absent, please send a hand written note with them to school on the day of their return explaining their absence. If your child is sick, please follow the "fever-free for 24-hours" rule of thumb. This allows for your child to both recuperate and eliminate the spread of germs and sickness around the classroom and school.

Behavior

In 3rd grade, students will start each quarter with 100 points. Students can lose points for improper behavior or not following classroom and school rules. Those points CANNOT be earned back. Once the quarter draws to a close, we will tally up the points deducted and adjust the students' behavior grades accordingly. For example, if a student loses 11 points for the quarter, their behavior grade on their report card will be an 89%, B.

Birthday Celebrations

Celebrations are always welcome in our class! You are welcome to bring in a treat to celebrate your child's birthday. School policy no longer allows for invitations to be passed out in class. If you would like to pass out whole class invitations, it must be done outside of school.

Communication

The best method of communication is via email. Please make sure that both Mr. Roy and I are included in all emails. Communication will also be conducted through your child's planner. Communication includes, but is not limited to: daily behavior grades, important memos from school-wide communications, conference requests, additional homework, book logs, etc. Please be sure to check your child's planner on a daily basis and sign the bottom. This helps us keep track of information that is sent and received :)

Conferences

Mr. Roy and I are always more than happy to meet with parents/guardians for a conference. Conferences are held in the morning from 8:00-8:30. If you are unable to meet in person, we can schedule a phone conference between those times as well. Please feel free to email us, call, or send a note in your child's planner to set up a time.

Field Trips

As a grade level, we are working on scheduling field trips for the school year. As soon as that information becomes available, we will send notice home.

Grades

A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%
F = 59% and below

Lunch

Our scheduled lunchtime is from 12:15 - 12:45 pm.  You are welcome to join your child for lunch each day!  If you are having lunch with your child, please sign in at the office and go directly to the lunch room, not the classroom.  Parents are invited to use the tables along the far side of the cafeteria.  School policy requires that you only eat with your child(ren) and no other students from the cafeteria. Please return your child to our class table or to our line BEFORE we leave the lunchroom to return to class.   Unless you are volunteering in the classroom, please do not walk your child back to class.

Planners

As mentioned above, planners are a big part of our daily communications. Please be sure to check it daily for news and announcements. Also, please sign your child's planner each day.

Transportation

We are all up-to-date on each child's mode of transportation! If there are any changes, please be sure to send in a hand written note detailing the transportation changes. Emails and phone calls will not be accepted, as this is a school policyWe are happy to make the necessary changes under the current policies.
