Explanation of weekly spelling:
Each week, we work on a new spelling list. Some of these will be simple at the beginning, but they will get more and more challenging. It is important that the students know the foundations to spelling before they are able to spell more difficult words. We work on spelling during school, so spelling is not assigned as homework. The amount of practice the students get with their spelling words should be plenty for them to do well on their spelling test each Friday. If you feel that they need extra practice, I will be putting the spelling words on this page for you. However, I am not requiring any extra studying.
Spelling schedule in class:
Monday: Sort spelling words with the categories and organize/write words in composition notebook
Tuesday: Sort spelling words with the categories and check notebook for accuracy
Wednesday: Sort spelling words without the categories
Thursday: Quiz a friend on words
Friday: Quiz a friend on words, spelling test, introduction to new words for next week
